CO2-emission reduction with Greengridz
One way in which Greenmarking contributes to a sustainable future is by emitting as little CO2 as possible. We do this by choosing a particular material for our product Greengridz®, applying lightweight engineering principles, and putting sustainability first. But what is CO2, and why is reduction very important?

What is CO2?
The formula CO2 represents carbon dioxide. This chemical compound occurs in the Earth’s atmosphere by nature. Particular organisms and plants use CO2 to produce the nutrient glucose. With this process, oxygen is produced and released into the atmosphere. Other organisms use oxygen to survive and produce energy. A waste product that is produced by these organisms is CO2. In addition to producing carbon dioxide by metabolizing oxygen, people cause part of the CO2 emissions on earth by burning fossil fuels. For example by the engines of cars, ships, and airplanes or in factories where they burn coal or petroleum.
Why is CO2 reduction important?
Before the Industrial Revolution, the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere were regulated by these dynamics in nature. But from that moment on, people started to produce an excessive amount of CO2, which caused a disbalance in the carbon cycle. This stimulates global warming, which causes climate change, which will surpass dangerous levels for all life on earth if emission rates continue to rise.
MDF: low CO2 emission
Greenmarking believes in building a sustainable future together. Sustainability and environmentally conscious engineering played an important role in the development of Greengridz. We use FSC certified Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) from MEDITE as the base product of Greengridz. This certification ensures responsible forestry management. The parent company of MEDITE, The Collite Group carries out this sustainable way of wood harvesting. By thinning out the forests they are custodians of, they prevent deforestation. In addition, the forest is divided into blocks from which trees are picked. Annually, one block is used, and after it is left for 30 years to recover. By preserving trees, we make sure sources that absorb CO2 continue to exist.
Greengridz emission reduction
The innovative structure of Greengridz does not need any adhesive to be produced, which equates to low environmental impact. The use of SCA Title VI/CARB compliant MDF also contributes to this. MDF complies with the toughest requirements for low formaldehyde emission, a toxic air contaminant. These unique characteristics make Greengridz panels stand out from traditional construction plates. In addition, depending on the desired thickness of the plates, 60%-90% less material is needed for production than solid construction panels. Less wood means, again, more preservation. The lightweight principles we apply to Greengridz facilitate efficient transportation. More material can be fitted in a truck, therefore less transport is needed, and less weight requires less fuel. The light weight of Greengridz reduces CO2 emissions by up to 60% compared to traditional construction material.
