What is CARB?

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) wood is the foundation of our Greengridz® products. MEDITE provides us with this product. MDF allows Greengridz panels to be lightweight and extremely strong. At Greenmarking, we develop innovative solutions to contribute to a sustainable future. Two characteristics that make MDF the perfect base for Greengridz are the two certifications it has. In addition to being FSC-certified, MDF complies with the required standards for formaldehyde regulation and labeling stated by the California Air Resources Board.

Formaldehyde in wood 

Formaldehyde is an organic compound that occurs in wood naturally. The volatile compound has been marked as a toxic air contaminant by The California Air Resources Board. Unreacted formaldehyde in the resins of composite wood products causes this exposure. To reduce emissions, The CARB proposed regulations for wood fiber products. These regulations are manifested in the Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM). Following this, ​​The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued a national rule for formaldehyde emission. Products compliant with the emission standards are marked as TSCA title VI and CARB compliant, and so is MDF from MEDITE.
