What is formaldehyde?

MDF wood is the base of our Greengridz® panels. Wood naturally contains formaldehyde, a volatile organic compound. The Environmental Protection Agency has marked formaldehyde as a toxic air contaminant by law. Composite wood products, such as chipboard and wood panels for furniture, cabinets, and countertops, require wood glue and additional resin. These adhesives also contain formaldehyde, which results in people being exposed to a high concentration of formaldehyde on a daily basis. At Greenmarking, we seek innovative solutions to contribute to a sustainable future. Although wood contains formaldehyde by nature, our innovative grid structure has the unique characteristic of not requiring any added adhesive to be manufactured.

SCA Title VI/CARB compliant wood

Since it occurs in wood by nature, composite wood can never be entirely formaldehyde-free. To carry out our mission of sustainability and circularity, we use premium-quality wood that is SCA Title VI/CARB compliant and delivered by our main supplier, MEDITE. The certification ensures that the wood complies with strict formaldehyde emission standards. Only the resins that occur in trees naturally are being used to manufacture MDF. In addition, no adhesive is needed to produce the grid structure. Only the top and bottom panels that cover the grid structure are compressed with a minimal amount of PVAc D3 adhesive.
