To achieve our sustainability goals, we use wood from responsibly managed forests. Therefore, we choose our wood supplier very carefully. MEDITE, our main supplier, provides FSC®-certified wooden panels. Using responsible materials contributes to enhancing circular residential construction building. Our end product, Greengridz® panels, also carry the FSC label. But what does this certificate mean exactly?
What is FSC?
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-governmental organization that has advocated responsible forest management since 1994. It is now one of the most respected forest certification systems worldwide. To us, responsible forest management extends beyond wood harvesting. It encompasses workers’ and local communities’ social and economic well-being, ensuring transparency and inclusiveness in decision-making. This comprehensive approach is a fundamental pillar of the FSC certification. Responsible forest management
Responsible forest management is carried out by our main supplier MEDITE. This process starts in the forests, where loggers work in a safe environment, and the locals are considered as well. During harvest, the forest is divided into blocks, using one forest block yearly. After that year, the block is left to rest for 30 years to recover. Only after this time are they will use the block again. An independent certifier follows the wood from the sawmill to the final client to ensure the FSC standards are met from start to finish. By buying FSC-certified products, you support the preservation of forests for trade and clean air on Earth.
